An update on Federation Fellowships:
Federation Fellowships have just been announced to Hans Bachor, Barry Luther-Davies and
Gerard Milburn of the AOS.
These join Yuri Kivshar, and other colleagues closely affiliated with the Society,
and our Past President Keith Nugent from the first and second rounds.
Congratulations from all of us. We note that this includes a recognition of
the strength of research in Optics in Australia generally.

PhD position in Bandgap Engineering and Modelling of Quantum Dots
In connection with the launching of a large interdisciplinary research
project, we seek a strong candidate for the 3-year PhD scholarship
in the area of bandgap engineering and modelling of quantum dots. The successful candidate will be geographically located at the
University of Southern Denmark (SDU) and will spend 6 months of his/her
PhD studies outside of Denmark.
